About The Come Up Gallery
In New Orleans, LA, The Come Up Gallery serves as a dynamic space that fosters creativity and artistic growth for individuals of all ages. I am one of New Orleans' original Community Artists, mentored by elders in the arts since 1993. Over the years, I've lived in this vibrant city, honing my craft while serving the community and developing my own original techniques. Influential figures like Sandra Berry of The Neighborhood Gallery, Doug Redd of Ashe, Richard Thomas of Visual Jazz, Ma Po of Xavier University, Big Chief Deryl Montana, Ron Bechet, Leah Chase, and many more community leaders from the 1980s, 19990s, and 2000s shared their wisdom with me on fine arts techniques and the importance of giving back to the community.
Through my own practice, I continue to pass down that knowledge to the youth of New Orleans, offering mentorship, art classes, and scholarships. My dedication to the community was recognized when Mayor Mark Morial awarded me the Community Leadership Award for my murals and after-school art program, which helped revitalize a blighted area of the city in 1997. In 2008, I received the Ancillary of Arts certification to teach art in Louisiana, continuing my mission to inspire and uplift through the arts.
As an art mentor, I take pride in guiding others through their artistic journey, helping them gain confidence and discover their full potential. My business hours for phone calls and appointments are as follows: Monday through Thursday, the art gallery is open from 10 AM to 2 PM. On the same days, art classes are available from 3 PM to 6 PM. On Sundays, I host art parties from 10 AM to 7 PM. Get in touch with The Come Up Gallery today!
